How do I add an event to Google Calendar by voice?
The answer
Three ways: Google Assistant on a Google speaker or display, Siri on iPhone if your Google calendar is the default calendar, or a voice note sent to TimeSpark on Telegram, WhatsApp or the website. The first two write down what you dictate. TimeSpark also picks the time when you don't give one, avoiding what's already booked.
With Google Assistant
On a Google speaker or display, say for example "Add dentist to my calendar on Saturday at 10am". According to Google's help:
- if the title, date or time is missing, the assistant asks you for it;
- the event lasts one hour by default;
- you can't edit or delete an event by voice, or add guests or a location: that's done in the Google Calendar app;
- "Personal results" must be turned on.
With Siri on iPhone
Siri adds the event to the iPhone's default calendar. For it to land in Google Calendar:
- Add your Google account. Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Google.
- Make it the default calendar. Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar, then pick your Google calendar.
- Ask Siri. "Add a dentist appointment on Friday at 2pm."

With TimeSpark: one voice note, and it finds the slot
TimeSpark is a calendar assistant: you send it a voice note as you would to a friend, and the event lands in your Google Calendar (or Outlook).
- Connect your calendar. Google Calendar or Outlook, once.
- Send a voice note. On Telegram, on WhatsApp or from the website, on iPhone or Android.
- It's booked. You can undo it in one tap for 10 minutes. If you would rather approve first, a setting lets you.
- "Dentist on Friday at 2pm"
- Booked Friday at 2pm. If you already have something at that time, it tells you and suggests another slot.
- "Call the accountant this week"
- It picks a free slot this week, within your working hours and working days.
- "Gym on Tuesday evening and groceries on Saturday morning"
- Two events, placed together, with no overlap.
What it does on top
- It reads your calendar before booking: nothing lands on top of another appointment.
- With no duration given, it uses 30 minutes, or the duration you taught it ("gym takes 1 hour").
- You can also move or delete an event by speaking.
8 events a month free, no credit card. The audio file isn't kept: it's transcribed, then deleted.
The limits
- TimeSpark reads and writes the main calendar of your Google account, not your other calendars.
- A voice note can be up to 5 minutes long.
- It understands English and French.
- An event TimeSpark didn't create is only changed after you confirm.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Android phone?
No. With TimeSpark, Telegram, WhatsApp and the website work on iPhone and Android alike. On iPhone, Siri works too, if your Google calendar is the default calendar.
Is the voice note kept?
No. TimeSpark transcribes the audio file, then deletes it. Only the event it created stays in your calendar.
Does it work in English?
Yes. TimeSpark understands English and French, typed or spoken.
What about Outlook?
TimeSpark also connects to a Microsoft (Outlook) calendar: the voice note lands there the same way.
